This is an easy to master joining system right out of the box. You will do one practice set-up and then its off-to-the-races! The accompanying DVD is great. It discloses the basics for all face-frame case and cabinet construction. After your first project you will suffer from over confidence. Two points of advice: 1)square cuts and joinery are mandatory. 2)"dry run" and clamp before gluing and screwing.

This video is pretty well done, and I would have given it 4 stars. However, the DVD will not let you resume play where you stopped, and it forces you to sit through a boring and lengthy introduction every time you go back to watch another chapter. Terrible DVD production.

I was disappointed in this DVD. It seems like the camera operator was more intrigued with the instructor's face rather than the work at hand. The pan to the workpiece was slow and off cue a lot. We saw a lot more of the instructor than his work, thereby missing some valuable visuals. The angle of the camera shots was often on the blind side of the workpiece, or ended up with the instructor's body in the way. I'd hesitate to purchase any of the other DVD's in this series, accordingly.

Like the other Kreg video hosted by John Silloats, which features a bathroom vanity or cabinet project, this one is a bit light on scripting and attention to detail, but the project flows well and the end result is useful insight into a variety of pocket hole techniques.



I would have liked the dialog to be less commercial-ish, with fewer overt references to "how great the Kreg pocket hole joinery system is!" and more of letting the product speak for itself. I also like the format of the Gary Striegler video that Kreg put out, which has several different project examples and techniques geared toward each one of them, rather than a single project like this one. But for the price, which is very reasonable, it's a good value and newcomers to pocket hole joinery will get a lot out of it.

This video is a let down. Don't get me wrong, I love the Kreg Jig and using pocket hole joinery. I have built several bookcaes,and other cabinets with face frames, but never have I attemted to build cabinet doors. This video shows you how to build everything but what I consider the hardest part - THE CABINET DOOR! In the video he says "we build the door using pocket screws too" and that's all you get. Very disapointing.

My wife gave me this as a gift. She meant well, so I appreciate it.



But this DVD is worthless. Waste of money. Con job. I like Kreg tools, but they need to get out of the DVD business. I don't see why they want to screw over their customers like this. I feel like my wife just paid $10 for me to see some low budget infomerical. Wait a minute, the infomerical would actually have more information.



Even a total newbie would be better off getting his information elsewhere.



I agree with the other reviewer: SHAME ON YOU KREG. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME. You saw the chance to make a quick buck and didn't care if you screwed us over. If I ever meet the CEO of Kreg, this DVD is going to be shoved up a very dark place on his person.

The DVD is short and it doesn't focus specifically on the tool. Having said that, it's a good learning tool for those that prefer to learn visually, instead of reading through the manual. It would have been better if they had covered their frequently asked questions (FAQ's) from their website. It's OK for the price, but something like this should have been provided for free on their website.

This is really well made. I resisted for a while because of the cost and the "do I really need another tool?" factor, but it is well worth the money. The jig is very well constructed. Better than I expected looking at the pictures. It is also good for some outdoors projects where you have to fasten 2x4s together (I use regular screws instead of the special kreg ones for that kind of stuff and they do work fine).

The Kreg jig is the only product I've ever purchased after watching an informerical and I am quite satisfied with it. After many years of trying to get solid/square joints with my limited home workshop tools, I was impressed with the results of the Kreg jig on a workbench I built for my son. The rail and leg joints were square, solid (no glue) and only took about an hour to drill and assemble. The instruction DVD included with the set was very helpful in explaining the basic set-up and uses of the jig. I think it will be one of the best tools in my workshop. My only concern was the necessity of buying the special Kreg screws. I found a local source for the Kreg screws however which means I don't have to order them online and the price is comparable to other wood fasteners.

I had a job to do that required me to assemble the work on site. I was able to precut all parts and predrill the pocket holes in the shop. The parts were then transported to the site and assembled. Glue was applied to the pieces and assembled and ready to finish in a short time. I do not know how long and how many clamps would have been required if I had used biscuits, dowels or any other type of assembly. This is probably one of the best specialty tools I have ever bought.

This was the perfect addition to our wood shop. Really, this is simple to use, and comes with a video to show how many uses this little gem has. We do a lot of wood joining, i.e. shelving, small furniture, picture frames, and I just think this tool has so many applications! I purshased the Kreg R3 Jr. after using a no-name brand from a big box store for over a year. I would have been well ahead to have purchased the Kreg at that time instead of just recently. It is fully adjustable for inside and outside fixturing and can be set to accomodate different material thicknesses. The other jig I was using before was non-adjustable and that created less-than-ideal results for me when working with materials greater than 1/2" thick. If you are considering getting into pocket hole joinery, my suggestion would be to go with Kreg.

I've heard about this system for years and finally bought it. Money well spent! All you need is a good square cut and the jig makes the rest almost fool-proof. I also bought the assortment of screws and a no-name welder's type clamp. I would highly reccommend this kit.
