These washer head screws are fantastic. They clamp the parts tightly without splitting the wood. They run in fast and easy. Wherever you have a pocket hole application, or wherever you don't mind a visible screw head (not countersunk, although they could be counterbored), use a washer head screw for maximum clamping. Oh, and I haven't broken any off yet, like many other screws.

Installation is easy, they work on 3/4" stock with no problem, the measuring tape fits nicely and the stops made for the tracks slide easily. I'm very happy with my Kreg track and stop system. Setting up your miter saw with stop system is mandatory in my opinion. The old tape measure/pencil mark/chase the mark and make a cut method is such a waste of time I'm amazed when I see builders doing it. Need 8 cripples at 33"? Set the stop and chop as fast as you can. And they come out perfect. Not having a stop system for your miter saw is a dumb as not having a measuring scale on your table saw.



I've used the Beismeyer stop for 10 years and they work well. But they are so proud of their little stop they think it's worth over $100. For that price opted to buy 2, 4' kreg tracks and the flip stop. It works every bit as well was easier to set up.



The track is easy to mount, is ridged and dead straight. There is even a little groove to lay the adhesive measuring tape into.



The hairline gauge allows very precise settings. (Beware that many of the cheap $39 dollar stops you can buy have a magnifying bubble over the hair line--sounds great, but when you look at it from different angles it moves back and forth a 1/16 of an inch! That's the sort of stuff that gives engineering a bad name...)



So my advice--DO NOT buy a miter saw without also building a table, fence and Kreg stop system. Sure it will take a couple hours cost $100, but it will be worth it.

Once completing the easy setup, the Top Trak is a great time saver. I installed mine to the left of a Sears Radial Arm Saw. I've used it for cutting the rails and stiles on several raised panel doors along with cutting the drawer sides. Very accurate and repeatable. Make sure to add the Kreg tape (left or right for your application) along with either the Flip Stop or Production Stop. I bought both. The Flip Stop is more convenient if you are using the saw for cutting boards to various lengths because it can be moved out of the way quickly if necessary.

I have one of the 'generic' pocket hole jigs you can get at most big box home improvement stores. when my original bit broke, I was in the middle of a project on a rare day off, so I had to buy a whole other jig set ($30) in order to keep going. So I decided a spare would be a good idea. This is the best price on a spare bit I could find. The Kreg bit seems to be a little sharper than the generic one that came with my jig, so the generic bit is now my backup.



It's a good idea to keep one extra around. They are good bits, but the tip is definitely the weak point of the entire system. hopefully the kreg bit is a little better made.

Seems more like a jig to me, but whatever it is, it works! Consistently excellent results on side mounted slides. I use this with Kreg's drawer mounting brackets and I recommend getting them together. I've used this jig for undermount slides with some good results also. I can find a few more uses for it to hold metal brackets and other pieces square to a wooden or plastic workpiece in order to attach them.

This video is a let down. Don't get me wrong, I love the Kreg Jig and using pocket hole joinery. I have built several bookcaes,and other cabinets with face frames, but never have I attemted to build cabinet doors. This video shows you how to build everything but what I consider the hardest part - THE CABINET DOOR! In the video he says "we build the door using pocket screws too" and that's all you get. Very disapointing.

But this DVD is worthless. Waste of money. Con job. I like Kreg tools, but they need to get out of the DVD business. I don't see why they want to screw over their customers like this. I feel like my wife just paid $10 for me to see some low budget infomerical. Wait a minute, the infomerical would actually have more information.



Even a total newbie would be better off getting his information elsewhere.

The DVD is short and it doesn't focus specifically on the tool. Having said that, it's a good learning tool for those that prefer to learn visually, instead of reading through the manual. It would have been better if they had covered their frequently asked questions (FAQ's) from their website. It's OK for the price, but something like this should have been provided for free on their website.

I pulled out my Kreg jig for the first time today. I was building some face frames out of 3/4 by one and a half inch poplar. Since I had not used the jig previously, I read the instructions, which took about 60 seconds. I then set the collar on the drill bit to three and a half inches, then clamped the jig down on a piece of scrap wood.



Practice once or twice on some scrap because I learned the clamp needs to be tight and you need to use a relatively fast drill speed while using slow but steady pressure or the jig will slide. Once I tightened up my clamp (I used my welding vise grip with the swivel pads) and used the slow, steady pressure the jig worked great!



I put together three sets of face frames with 18 joints. Each joint had two screws, which required a separate jig set-up for each hole. The clamping, drilling, and screwing all 36 holes took me about 15 minutes total. The joints are perfect and did not even require sanding to even out tiny imperfections that I sometimes got when I used the biscuit joiner.



Overall I am very satisfied with this product.

If you want an excellent, quick joint, this is it! It won't replace a dovetail or a mortise & tenon but it requires far, far less work. Kreg gives you all the best options for pocket joinery and prices their products so reasonably there's no reason to buy anything less.

I bought this kit because I wanted a spare drill bit in my kit. You can adjust the collar for differnt thickness materials and instead of having one bit whose collar I need to move back and forth I can have one bit always set up for 3/4 inch material.



But I have used this type of jig before as well and it is great.



If you are the Harry The Happy Home Hobbiest type or a seasoned wood worker this is a nice thing to have within reach in your tool box. It works as well on the edge as it does the flat of your stock.



After you have found the best setting for the collar on the drill bit for your project and location for the jig just clamp it down on your piece and drill; thats all there is to it.



One word of advice: to keep the drill bits edges from getting beaten up too soon; place the bit into the hole before you turn on your drill and leave it in till the drill stops. A little respect for your tools goes a long way; I have used one of these for years and the bit is still nice and sharp.



Now go out and make some sawdust.
